BLOGMAS // ALL I WANT FOR XMAS IS...
I think I've been a good girl this year.
So I wonder what Santa has in his goody bag for me this Christmas?

If he's unsure on what to get me, I'll write him a list.

First on the list is some rather naughty and oh so nice underwear from Oh So Lovely Intimates. I've found this ridiculously gorgeous brand on Instagram. Think Agent Provocateur on a more affordable level.

I think this will love divine underwear a slightly see-through shirt, or a low cut plain white t-shirt.

Sorry this is such a short post but it's been a very busy day!

BLOGMAS // TWO AWARDING WINNING SHOWS THAT YOU'RE NOT WATCHING // TV

People ask me, constantly, 'Do you watch Game of Thrones, Suits, How To Get Away with Murder, House of Cards?'

Those are the shows that everyone is watching, what everyone talks about, what everyone knows.

So I ask them,

'Do you watch The Affair or Transparent?'

'Never heard of it,' is normally the reply.

I'm surprised. They are both award winning tv series. With so many critics talking about the complexity and rawness that they possess.

Let me gladly introduce you to them.

TRANSPARENT

This is the light-hearted one out the pair. I must warn you, the themes are still very dark. It revolves around a family. With topics such as transgender, homosexuality, affair, secrets, loneliness and old age. Yeah, it doesn't seem so light-hearted anymore.

All these topics are strangely addressed in a humorous way. I find myself giggling at lyrical one-liners even though my political-correct mind says that I shouldn't.

The way it is directed funnily reminds me of French films. There would be montages of a street, or a lake, or watching a character with an airy and gentle instrumental song accompanying it. It embeds tranquility in a hectic atmosphere. This is quite unusual for me to see in American series. It's normally just - bam, one scene, bam, the next scene, bam, someone dies. I get really fed up of the fast paced Hollywood dramatics.

Think of Transparent similar to Modern Family, although with actual believable characters that carry challenging and complicated baggage. Some members of the family, especially Alex, are absolute mad as a hatter. She's blunt and awkward, very peculiarly but a very likeable character.

I finish every episode: smiling.

The actors are magnificent and the film making is spectacular.

Watch when: you're about to go to sleep.

It's not a thriller nor will it leave your heart racing. It will make you appreciate all the crazy things in life, because as I sit there watching the Pfefferman's family nutty life, I smile. Life is odd. And sometimes we have to laugh about the craziness.

THE AFFAIR

An affair always pop up in TV series. Writers add them in to bring flavour to the plot.

But The Affair's affair is something different.

This has to be my favourite TV series, I might even have to say of all time.

As cliche as it sounds, I don't even know where to begin with why you should be watching this.

I don't want to do write any spoilers (that's if you take on my advice to watch it, please do) but the show is about the disastrous effects of an affair that happens between a Manhattan, father, not very successful writer (Noah) and a depressed, charming, complexed waitress (Alison). They meet each other at a time when nothing is changing in their lives. There is no passion or excitement. It was all lost somehow. And when they meet, so cleverly the dialogue and the directing, highlights how they are meant to be together.

Each episode is 60min long, but it is split into two parts. Her side of the story, his side of the story. I've realised that the truth is so very relative. The 'truth' is not always correct. Our minds recall the past differently to someone else's.
For instance, Alison in Noah's perspective wears her hair down, and her skirt/dress is always above mid-way on her thigh. Noah in Alison's story is sexually charged, abrupt and ruthless.

There are wonderful scenes of the water. What it symbolises is what you will have to tell me after you watch it.

Funnily enough Alison and Noah are actually British actors, it just shows how good at acting they are.

I finish every episode: wanting to write my own script.

Watch when: you want to feel uninspired or bored.

I'm also obsessed with the character progression of this series. Not only how they progress within themselves, but their likability and your respect for them adjusts throughout.

She was sex, the very definition of it. She was the reason the word was invented...no marriage, no matter how strong, could survive her.

BLOGMAS // WHO YOU SHOULD BE FOLLOWING #2 // INSTAGRAM

Her Insta makes me miss summer, ok I know, I'm living in Malta right now. But I get the Coachella, pink skies, cold beer summer vibes from this account. She could be the poster gal for Nasty Gal. Sexy, fun and bold.

Now when people talk about having themes, this girl know how to do it. It's so refreshing and cleansing going onto her page. But such a contrast when you see her killer fierce selfies. And let's talk about her eyebrows for a moment. Make up perfection at its finest.

The filter on her Insta is what I'm drawn to. There's a warm undertone that I really appreciate. I tend to go on her page to view natural makeup styles and then ideas for bold lipsticks. She's absolutely stunning. I really love the African art she occasionally posts - I don't really see anyone else doing that.

It's the typical Parisian effortlessly cool situation here. Denim and leather. Sophisticated dinners by the Eiffel. Now she's in LA - so think French chic mixed with Old Hollywood. We got a classic beauty on our screens.

BLOGMAS // Why Rome Needs To Be Your Next Destination // TRAVEL

If you follow my Instagram you would have seen that I took a quick getaway to Rome. My boyfriend and I thought waiting two months until we next saw each other was a bit too long, so we both checked on Sky Scanner to find what the cheapest countries were to us to fly to. He was flying in from England. I was flying in from Malta.
It sounds like an introduction to a RomCom about long distance relationships!

I've been to Italy before, somewhere in the north to go skiing. Did I fall in love with it there? Um, not really, it was just like any other European country with snowy mountains. So my expectations for Rome weren't so high.

My advice to someone travelling is to lower your expectations of that place. Trust me - I'm not being pessimistic. I've just been to many places where I've spent hours hunting what it'll look like on Pinterest. And then when I get there I would realise that everything isn't in that Gingham or Lark filter.

So maybe it's because my expectations were lower, or maybe because I didn't do my research - but I fell in love with Rome. So quickly and so deeply, not just a crush, a deep love.

I know Rome is one of the best cities in the world but I didn't know it'd be that spectacular.

Being in Malta I've been deprived of trees and greenery. It was so refreshing to be surrounded by nature like this, but even more pleasant that I'm surrounded by the that looked like this. It's so childish but it reminds me of Hercules. I know Hercules is to do with Greek mythology but those high trees in the background could easily me pictured next to Disney's Mount Olympus.

The apartments are painted gorgeously. It's like a dulux colour strip - different tones of orange and pink and red.

Did you know that it is actually ok to drink from these taps. Ok I didn't risk it. But you'd see them dotted around the streets.

The best scenes of Rome are from high up. You get to see the old churches, the busy streets, the parks.

Luckily Rome is quite a small city, well not small but everything you need to see close by. I didn't even take a taxi or the bus (but gladly our hotel room was opposite The Pantheon). So spending a few days in Rome is fine because you can jam pack each day.

This statue of Julius Caesar just highlights how Rome was the capital of the world at one time. So many great leaders walked on the same ground as me.

I do wish that I went more to museums, because the ones that I went to were magical. You'd be looking at the ceiling, then looking at the marbles floor, then finally noticing what's on display. Just so much to take in.

One of the best part of the trip was walking down the car-free cobble streets at night. After a few glass of vino and my belly full from spaghetti, it was the best way to get back to the hotel.

BLOGMAS // EVERYBODY NEEDS A CHEEKY XMAS JUMPER

Thanks to Missguided and Boohoo, we now have an amazing section dedicated to our much loved tacky Christmas jumpers.

But instead of the generic wooly jumpers of reindeers prancing through the frost or the waving stone-eyed snowman. I have found humorous, joyful and tasteful jumpers that will have your grandma looking twice, and then a third time with her glasses on, to read what the slogan says.

Sleight whaaaat?!

I would say do not wear around kids, or else you'll be hearing JINGLE MY BELLS until the next Christmas dinner.

At the moment Missguided have a 50% off sale for Christmas jumpers, so...I'll be getting mine tonight!

It's a shame it's only acceptable to wear Xmas jumpers once a year. I say there should be Easter jumpers too (I'm sure there are some out there - I'm just missing out). I'm thinking of a jumper that says 'the chocolate monster', or something to make it seem okay that I'm eating so much chocolate in one day.
